Our FR-A spandrel panels are non-combustible insulated panels designed to improve fire safety and thermal insulation in buildings.

As a result of updates to Approved Document B, building contractors and designers are increasingly seeking non-combustible insulation solutions that are essential for external walls in buildings over 11 metres high. These materials must comply with Euroclass A1 or A2-s1, d0 standards, ensuring optimal fire safety.

Non-combustible solutions

The latest addition to our range of non-combustible panels is the FR-A Type 2a panel for applications with specific hard glazing edge requirements. This new type of panel strengthens our comprehensive range which now features four types:

  • FR-A type 2 panels: Designed with a nexus lamella core and powder-coated aluminium, providing a sleek, durable finish that enhances building exteriors.
  • FR-A type 2a panels: Our latest addition to the range features a high-density calcium silicate hard edge surround.
  • FR-A type 3 panels: Coated with anodised aluminium, these panels offer exceptional durability and a modern, metallic look.
  • FR-A type 4 panels: Top-hat style panels manufactured with a high-density nexus edge, ensuring robust performance, improved low u-values and long-lasting stability.

Each panel has been specifically designed with a non-combustible Nexus lamella core, renowned for its safety in composite structures. These FR-A panels are available in both anodised and polyester powder-coated finishes.

Our non-combustible insulation panels undergo a controlled manufacturing process with strict quality checks to ensure compliance with the highest standards and tested specifications, guaranteeing reliable performance and peace of mind. Our range of non-combustible insulation solutions minimises the risk of fire, helping facades to meet stringent building regulations. Other benefits include:

Design Flexibility

One of the standout features of our FR-A panels is their versatility. Available with anodised or powder-coated (PPC) aluminium facings, these panels come in various thicknesses, colours, and finishes allowing architects and developers to specify materials that offer both superior fire safety and aesthetic appeal, without any compromise. FR-A panels can be supplied with 1.5,2.0 & 3.0mm thick aluminium facings.

Great structural integrity

The core of each panel is made up of Nexus Stonewool Lamella core, a non-combustible material renowned for its structural integrity, rigidity, and flatness. The core’s uniform vertical fibre structure provides exceptional mechanical performance, while the unique open filament net ensures a robust adhesive bond. This is further enhanced by our specially selected adhesives, applied to deliver a uniform and consistent coating.

Excellent acoustic properties

Our non-combustible insulation solutions also have excellent acoustic properties and can be manufactured to meet specific U-value and wind-loading requirements. In addition, our skilled technical team can offer guide calculations and support to meet the performance criteria for your specific application.

Superior manufacturing and quality control

UK manufactured to ISO 9001:2015 management standards, each FR-A panel undergoes a rigorous production process. This includes stringent quality checks on every component to ensure they meet the highest standards detailed in EN 13501-1:2018. This attention to detail guarantees that our panels not only meet but exceed industry expectations for safety and performance.
