What is Equitone?
Equitone is a range of through-coloured fibre cement façade materials manufactured by Etex, a Belgian building materials group. Unlike panels with a surface coating or laminate, Equitone panels are the same material all the way through — meaning cut edges, routed joints and fixing points share the same texture and tone as the face of the panel.
This through-body composition gives Equitone its distinctive raw, honest aesthetic that has made it a popular choice among architects seeking an uncompromising material finish on contemporary buildings.

The Equitone range
Equitone produce several distinct panel types, each with a different surface character:

Typical applications
Equitone is specified across a broad range of building types, particularly where architectural quality and fire performance are both priorities:
- Rainscreen cladding on residential and commercial buildings
- Buildings over 11 metres where A2-classified materials are required
- Education, healthcare and public sector buildings
- Mixed-use and build-to-rent developments
- Refurbishment of existing facades
- Feature walls and architectural detail panels
Key product properties
Equitone produce several distinct panel types, each with a different surface character:
Through-coloured composition
The material is consistent throughout the panel thickness, so cut edges and machined details match the face without the need for touch-up or edge treatment.
Weather resistant
Fibre cement is inherently resistant to rain, frost, UV exposure and temperature fluctuation, making it well suited to the UK climate.
Dimensionally stable
Equitone panels maintain their form across a wide range of temperatures and humidity levels, reducing the risk of warping or movement in the façade.
Non-combustible
Equitone panels achieve an A2-s1,d0 fire classification, making them suitable for use on buildings where non-combustible cladding is required under UK Building Regulations.
Low maintenance
The surface requires no painting or recoating and can be cleaned with water. The material does not support mould or algae growth.
CNC machinable
Equitone panels can be routed, drilled and cut to precise dimensions, allowing for custom joint details, fixing patterns and shaped panels.
