The £50m Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) has recently announced the suppliers on its framework agreement, which is set to kickstart the design and build of a number of new schools, academies and educational facilities. With the trend towards colourful facades for education buildings, there is a predicted increase in demand for Trespa® Meteon® panels.
The material is a decorative high-pressure laminate, which is manufactured from a blend of 70 per cent wood-based fibres, combined with thermosetting resins. These are produced under high pressures and temperatures to provide a dense panel with a good strength-to-weight ratio. Extremely robust, these panels are available in a wide range of colour choices which enhances a building’s aesthetic appeal.
The panels are ideal for school building applications as they have a scratch and impact resistant surface that is extremely robust and have been manufactured to withstand harsh exterior elements, such as UV light and wind-driven rain. The panels are available in a wide choice of standard colours, including wood and metal effects, and they can also be manufactured in custom-made colours for bespoke projects.
Trespa® Meteon® panels are available in a broad range of colours, finishes and with decorative effects, providing endless design possibilities. What is also increasing their popularity is that these panels offer great resistance against the effects of sun and rain, with high UV resistance and colour stability, as well as low maintenance.
Trespa® Meteon® panels are very robust. They offer high impact resistance, and are also fully machinable to enable face grooving and edge profiling.
Two years ago, we were appointed as a distributor on a national basis for Trespa® Meteon® here in the UK.
Not only do we supply Trespa® Meteon® panels, we also fabricate them to meet customers’ specific requirements through our own CAD service and extensive CNC machining capabilities. We can also produce bespoke shapes and engraved options in the material.
We offer the flexibility to be able to accept customers’ own CAD files to create tailored designs and can offer rapid prototyping, if required. With high value materials like Trespa® Meteon®, it’s really important that the panel usage is maximised, which is why we offer an optimisation package to ensure board wastage is kept to a minimum.
A recent project that we supplied was Goldthorpe Primary School. This required 80m² of Trespa® Meteon® window infill panels in six bright colours: Passion Red, Red Orange, Zinc Yellow, Lime Green, Poplar Blur and Royal Blue to create a unique rainbow design to the front of the main school building .
We manufactured the panels for the whole façade of the main school building, supplying the site on call-off and cutting each of the panels to exact sizes using its extensive CNC machining facilities.
These panels offer a fantastic range of colour options that create bright attractive exteriors to educational, public sector or commercial buildings… it’s little wonder that Trespa® Meteon® panels are being so widely specified.
